Bowtows

‘Bowtow’ is a term that refers to people who are from Newhaven.

Now, with fewer and fewer people being interested in Newhaven’s past, and with a generation of Bowtows that are slowly dying out, this history and heritage of Newhaven is close to being forgotten.

This ongoing series focuses on these people and their stories, exploring cultural identity through memories.

This project is particularly meaningful to me as I am descended from a long line of Bowtows and I really want to show the importance of heritage.
