When I was a kid, I used go to drama classes. We used to put on shows that were filled with crazy, creative ideas which were great fun. One of the shows we did was about ghosts and curses and during a few scenes, the drama leaders decided to have us wear masks and pretend to be statues that came to life. The masks we used fuelled my weird fascination for all kinds of masks. It also inspired this project.

‘Masked’ is a project that documents the emotions and drama of the weird and supernatural. Through the masks, each image conveys a deeper meaning that is inspired by theatre, history or real life.
